Entwistle Fires - May 7th UPDATE
May 7, 2023 (1:30pm) -
Dear Parents & Guardians of Entwistle School,
With the emergency evacuation orders still in place for Entwistle and surrounding areas, Entwistle School will remain closed for Monday, May 8th. As always, your safety and well-being come first but we do want to offer an opportunity for students to come to school. Therefore, Entwistle School students will be welcome to attend Wabamun School as an interim, alternative learning site. We also fully understand that some families may not be able to consider that yet.
Parkland School Division is committed to providing safe and caring places for all students to learn and our thoughts go out to all families of students and staff that have been affected by this state of emergency.
PSD Transportation Services will offer congregated pick-up and drop-off locations for dispersed families if they’d like to meet our bus enroute. Entwistle School families who need transportation to Wabamun School will be able to meet a bus in Seba Beach Library or Gainford. High School students in the area can meet at a stop in Gainford.
Morning and afternoon pickup and dropoff times are as follows:
K-9 Entwistle Students
Location | AM Pickup departure to Wabamun | PM drop-off |
Seba Beach Library | 7:40 AM | 3:10 PM |
Gainford | 7:45 AM | 3:10 PM |
High School Students travelling to MCHS
Location | AM Pickup departure to MCHS | PM drop-off |
Gainford | 7:30 AM | 4:15 PM |
Staff are eager to reconnect with students but we understand that not all families may be ready to return to school for various reasons. Additional support will be available for students.
PSD will continue to monitor the Air Quality Health Index AQHI, but we are pleased to pass along that Entwistle is reporting numbers in the ‘Low Risk’ range. Should there be any updates with the always changing weather and wind patterns, we will adjust and communicate with families accordingly.
As per Administrative Procedure 750: Severe Weather, primary considerations for school closure include air quality, specifically an AQHI greater than 4.
