Entwistle School to Reopen Monday May 15

May 12, 2023 (4:41 p.m.) -

Dear parents/guardians of Entwistle School,

We just wanted to touch base before the weekend to let you know that the plan is still to reopen Entwistle School for Monday, May 15th with regular bus service also resuming for families.

We continue to stay in contact with the Emergency Operations Centre for Parkland County and will communicate any information available. Here’s the latest from Parkland County:

As we approach the weekend, forecasts predict increasing temperatures, high winds and low relative humidity, conditions which are likely to cause elevated wildfire danger and increased wildfire behaviour. We would like to remind residents in the Entwistle area to remain on alert and be ready for possible evacuation if conditions warrant, as your safety remains our primary concern. The State of Local Emergency remains in effect, as does the Provincial State of Emergency.

The water testing we informed you about earlier this week has received a passing grade from Alberta Health Services. As far as air quality goes, we continue to monitor the Special Air Quality Statements issued by Environment Canada. Should there be any updates with the always changing weather and wind patterns, we will adjust and communicate with families accordingly.

We also wish to reassure you that PSD will have contingencies in place if, while students are attending classes at Entwistle School, conditions change dramatically and evacuation orders are reinstated.

Once again, staff are eager to reconnect with students and get back to our regular practices as much as possible. Please reach out to the school if you are not yet able to return - we are here to help and provide any additional supports where we can.

For the latest on the fire, please refer to Parkland County’s website at:

Please reach out to Principal Bileau or to our Division Office at or 780-963-4010 if there is any assistance we can provide at this time.
